Media Center Policies

  • Book Check Out
  1. Students may check out three books at a time.
  2. Books may be checked out for three weeks.
  3. Students must have their ID to check out a book.

Media Center Check-out Hours

  1. The Media Center is open before school from 9:00am – 9:25am unless there is a meeting scheduled.
  2. Students may check books out during the school day with a pass from their teacher.
  3. Language Arts classes are scheduled to check books out every three weeks.
  4. Boys & Girls Club members can check books out after school on Mondays and Fridays from 4:30pm – 5:30pm.

Fines

  1. Late library books will accrue a fine of $0.05 per day.
  2. Students with excessive fines will not be able to check out books until the fine is paid.
  3. If a book is lost, the student must pay the publisher’s purchasing price.
    1. In the event the book is found, the student has 30 days from the time of payment to request a refund. The student must have the receipt in order to receive a refund.
  4. If a book is damaged beyond repair, the student must pay the publisher’s purchasing price.
  5. All fines must be settled before the end of the school year in order to receive report cards and schedules for the following school year.

Book Requests/Renewals

  1. If a student wants a book that is currently checked out, they may request a hold for that title at the circulation desk.
  2. Once the book is turned in, the book will be checked out to the student who placed the hold and the book will be delivered to them.
  3. Students who do not finish a book within the allotted three weeks may renew the book once for an additional three weeks.

Media Center Rules

  1. Behave in a calm and quiet manner. Voice levels should never be higher than a 1.
  2. No eating, drinking, or chewing gum.
  3. Cell phones, MP3 players, and hand-held video games are prohibited.
  4. The Media Center is not a place to “hang out”.
    1. Students visiting the Media Center are here to check books out, read, work on school work, study for tests, or work on the computers.
  5. Students must follow the Code of Conduct at all times.

Computer Policies

  1. Computers are available for student use for school work only.
  2. Students may not play games on the computers during school hours.
  3. Students are allowed to take Accelerated Reader tests in the Media Center.
  4. Students wishing to print may do so for $0.10 a page or they may bring their own printing paper.
